Hanover Area Junior and Senior Class will be able to enroll in the Emergency Medical Technician Certification Program

Hanover Area School District and Hanover Township Community Ambulance Association Medic 9 in partnership with the Thomas Gusher Training Institute is proud to announce that for the 2023/2024 school year, Hanover Area Junior and Senior Class will be able to enroll in the Emergency Medical Technician Certification Program. The Program will be offered to students during their school day as an elective class. Students will graduate as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and create a career pathway not only in EMS but other emergency service fields. This program is also the beginning of the Student Response Team in the high school.

The Thomas Gusher Jr. Training Institute was created to keep the relentless and devoted pursuit of enhancing EMS Education to First Responders by Thomas Gusher Jr. who lost his six year battle to cancer at age 22. He was a 1994 graduate of Hanover Area and a Paramedic and Firefighter in the township. Even through his sickness he was teaching and helping those who wanted to help others. It is an Honor to keep his memory and drive for excellence in EMS going now and well into the future with this program.

Offering this education to our students strengthens our community and builds support for all Emergency Services. Hanover Area is the first to offer these two programs to its students in the area.
